When I'm really tired and need to sit for a while, I go straight to the 19th- Century European Paintings Galleries, where there are several comfy setees situated central to the masterpieces that hang on the walls.

The first time I set eyes on the Metropolitan Museum of Art and stepped into the Great Hall, I was overtaken by sheer amazement at the magnitude of the beautiful building and the promise of the great work it held within its walls.
Looking at the comprehensive collection of masterpieces at the Met over and over again just increased my interest in art and art history, enough to inspire me to undertake this project. What better way to learn art history than to experience it firsthand?
So my mission is this: visit the museum every day (except of course, most Mondays when it is closed). I plan to augment my experiences with the museum's extensive thematic essays and timeline of art history, as well as other text and internet sources, in order to gain a more complete understanding of that which interests me greatly. This blog is meant to share what I feel and learn as I journey through time and around the world in my great conquest of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
